Do your students love to read books online? 

Check out this website! http://www.wegivebooks.org They provide you with hundreds of free books for your kiddos to read.  They are not books to listen to, however, the students love them! I also use these books on my smartboard for read alouds! They are great for all subjects and ages!

The Amazing Animal World

Hi All,

Is anyone else enjoying their snow day off? I am! Especially because I was supposed to have jury duty today.  I wanted to share a few things on an animal unit that my firstie's just finished up.  

Every first grade class in my school was given a different animal group to research.  My class became experts on jungle animals. After all five first grade classes finished their research projects, we had a special animal exhibit day! One of my co-workers brought in taxidermy animals and we created an animal exhibit for the kids to get up close and personal with real animals.  After the exhibit we went from classroom to classroom viewing all the hard work the students put into their research projects.  Each classroom was filled with pictures, books, and research.  We all had so much fun! It was a great way to applaud the children for the amazing work they all accomplished!
